Cajun and Zydeco music are the creation of the French-speaking Acadians who relocated to Louisiana from Canada . Both Creole-based sounds have influenced American popular music. Recorded versions are found in movies, television and pop culture while the genre is growing at music and cultural festivals in and around New Orleans.

Only a few instruments such as the Cajun accordion, fiddle, and triangle create basic dance music. The basic rhythm incorporates staccato style notes and fiddle double stops. Each fiddle solo includes a major scale riff, repeated between verses.

Both styles grew in the late 19th century when accordions became affordable to the Creole musicians. The rhythmic tempo matched the waltz and two-step dances commonly practiced in that era. Now the Internet has provided a platform for Cajun, Zydeco and Creole music to expand. Finding Cajun fashion photography on line is inspirational and a growing network of music festivals provide performance opportunities for musicians and dance enthusiasts alike to keep these traditions alive.

Born deep in French Louisiana, far from refrigerant cooled parlors or mansions with granite countertops, the hard-working farmers and fishermen of the bayou created everything for themselves. Tradition was handed down through the generations with no learner permit tests or formal ceremony. At Chowder Radio, we want to do our part to keep these alive far into the future.

Fans of Cajun music heard of Hunter back when he was just a little boy. Hunter started out playing the accordion back when he was like four years old. Then when he was around six years old he came out with his first album that spawned a huge hit called “Six Years Old”.

What’s Hunter doing know?

Hunter was born in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana and since his start as a young boy, Hunter has been working on his craft and now is on the national Country music scene. He has also become a master musician who can play up to 30 different instruments! Wow!

He has already opened up for country music superstar Taylor Swift already in his young career. His first single “Storm Warning” hit the Country music charts and is currently sitting at #15. Not bad for your first single huh?

Among the many extraordinary things about Hunter Hayes, the multi-talented musician, writer, producer and performer, perhaps what is most astonishing is that in truth, he’s just getting started. And it is that fact which holds the promise of Hunter Hayes becoming one of the most significant musical talents to emerge, not just from Nashville, but from anywhere, in a long, long time.

Already, he has accomplishments beyond most musicians wildest dreams: Singing “Jambalaya” with Hank Williams Jr. in front of 200,000 people (15 million YouTube views) at the age of four; appearing with Robert Duvall (who gave Hunter his first guitar) in “The Apostle” at the age of six; playing with Johnny and June Cash, and Charlie Daniels at a BBQ; performing for President Clinton and many more. You might say that he’s lived a charmed life. But those experiences are simply the natural result of Hunter’s prodigal talent, one that’s been there from the beginning as though a gift from God, and one that he’s always conscious to be in service to.

Having moved to Nashville three years ago, Hunter was quickly signed to Universal Music Publishing Group where he has co-written songs for Rascal Flatts and Montgomery Gentry. At the same time, he was introduced to Atlantic Records’ Chairman/CEO and music visionary Craig Kallman, who he signed with at Atlantic Records
