Zydeco

When I was in kindergarten my parents signed me up for accordion lessons. I am not sure how they came to choose the accordion. Neither of my parents played the accordion, nor did they come from a long line of accordion players. Nevertheless, they rented a full sized accordion and I started my lessons. The physics behind a 40 pound boy holding and playing a 15 pound instrument may not have been something that my parents gave much thought to. Needless to say, I ended up quiting shortly before the first recital.
There are times, though not many, where I wished that I never would have quit those lessons. I can still remember how that old accordion smelled when I took it out of it’s case.
